One Simple Single Thing I Was Happy About Today

Describe or draw as you please the one single thing you were happy about today. It could be anything, a person, a beloved pet, a colorful sock, a pair of nice shoes etc. Put the a single thing / a single image on a simple background and don’t forget to include the date!

A Date with Death

A journal for all things related to the termination of mortality. With taxes it’s the only certain thing, so you’re certain to have something to say about it. Dreams, thoughts, fears, desires, words, illustrations…all relating to death are welcome here.

This journal appears to have been lost. The last recipient says she sent it onwards but there is no further record of givers since 2010.

Eating Out

My husband gave me this journal, because the cover reminded him of a restaurant we take out kids to often, and I decided to turn it into a journal about eating out in restaurants. Possible topics for inclusion? Your favorite restaurant, or a fantasy dinner companion, or a description of your most-loved dessert. Alternatively, tell me your restaurant horror stories, as a customer or a waiter or chef. I’m a big fan of books like Kitchen Confidential, Down and Out in Paris & London, Hey Waitress! and Hotel Bemelmans.

Parenting

As a new mother of a 2 month old I would like the topic of this pass along journal to be about parenting. Feel free to add your advice, tips, stories or whatever you would like about parenting. When you are finished pass it on to another BookMooch member so they can add their two cents.

When the book is full and complete, please send it home to me. You can contact me through my BookMooch ID of mspeegle.

Adopt, Adapt, and Improve

This is a chain of inspiration captured in a single volume. You will take your inspiration from the person who previously had the journal, and re-imagine their creation or theme in your own way.

Adopt the previous work of art.
Adapt it to your own style.

Improve it, by adding elements of your own, removing what you don’t like, twisting the theme entirely, or whatever you’d like. Let’s see just where this motto of the Round Table takes us.

Bear Riding on a Train: Your Childhood Journey

My theme is: Your childhood journey (Bear Riding on a Train). Our childhood can seem so long when we are kids, but it goes by so fast.

What was your favorite childhood food? What did the house you grow up in look like? Do you have a story from your childhood that most of your friends roll their eyes and say, “No that story again!”. Draw the lay out of your house, what did your room look like when you were 12? What lunch did your mom pack every day? What was your favorite Halloween? Remember when you go the dog you always wanted? Did you move away from all your friends and you never forgot your last day with your best friend? Draw, write, remember but most of all tell me about your childhood journey.

Please let what you write be something my children & I can read together!

Create your artistic journal entry- relist on bookmooch and pass it on.(hopefully to someone with good feedback! 😉 The last entrant will then mail it back to the owner Ashley (USA: GA) user id: faith4jesus.

The Collaborative Novel

Writing is another form of art. The Collaborative Novel is a Book Mooch Journal where each person has the ability to add to the story created by the owner. Each person is given the power to write in characters, plot, setting, flashbacks or anything else. The story will then be continued until the pages are filled. Then the book will be typed up as best as possible and shared for the world to enjoy. The only rules are that it needs to be rated (PG-13). Please try to keep profanity, sex and lots of violence out of your artistic expression. If you mooch the journal, you should be prepared to write a couple of pages, but you should also feel free to write up to 20. Lastly, on the first page, which is blank, write your name and city to the author list.

Want to drop in some illustrations? Great! Tape a photo or draw a picture to let everyone else see what you saw happening.

If you would like, use this website to type in a summary of what you wrote so that the previous people can see how the story developed.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die

After spending three years traveling the USA in a RV, I came to believe that every town, no matter how small, has some unusual claim to fame. It could be a person, a geographic feature, a building, an event, whatever it is that makes your town famous. The idea behind this journal is for you to tell us about the unusual fame your town claims, and design one or more pages and tell us about it. Use photographs, drawings, ATCs, stamp art, portions of travel brochures, written text, and so forth. Anything goes!

At the end of it’s journey, This Altered Book will be returned to it’s owner, [Kenenth G Samson] who may be reached through his account at BookMooch. [BookMooch ID: samsonkg]

Rules: none, really – as far as journals go. I want you to be as creative as you’d like, adding anything, altering the existing blank pages in the book with your own creative art. Do not alter the pages that have travel tips, however!

–Kenneth

This journal was returned to its creator when he began travelling himself. We have listed a new journal 1000 places to see before you die Part Two, which is moochable.

Covers Recreated: Iconographic, iMmodest and Erotic [CRIME]

The book is actually the Granta 2007 Diary as shown below, which I mooched specifically to turn it into a BMJournal.

On the Left handed pages, full-color reproductions of famous, steamy and not so steamy crime novels and pulp fiction appear. The right-handed pages are blank. As only a hot-blooded male could dream up, I envision the right-handed pages containing art from BookMoochers, recreating the Covers on the left, making them iconographic, immodest and erotic! Here’s a chance to let yourself go, designing and creating the book covers as you would have done them, given the chance!

At the end of it’s journey, This Altered Book will be returned to it’s owner, [Kenenth G Samson] who may be reached through his account at BookMooch. [BookMooch ID: samsonkg]

Rules: none, really – as far as journals go. I want you to be as creative as you’d like, adding anything, altering the existing blank Right-handed pages in the book with your own creative ‘cover-art.’
