The Traveling Journal of Travel Tips

This is a journal is intended to become a forum for travelers on BookMooch to share tips, the dos and don’ts, about places they have traveled. Share your tips about travel arrangements, hotel accommodations, food, museums, attractions, must-sees and places to avoid. Anything at all! The destination can be near, your hometown, or far. Feel free to leave one tip or to add multiple tips about multiple places.

You can even pose questions about certain places for future journalists to answer. I will scan the pages of this journal when it is completed and post them on the internet for those interested.

*Although not required, photos are always fun.*

Please be respectful of the two week time limit and other entries (do not alter or cover them).

The Last Country You Traveled To

Fill up a couple pages with drawings, paintings, pictures, art, souvenirs, words, or something else that indicates the last country you traveled to. If you’ve never left your home country, you should have lots of material that you can contribute about it too!

Please let me know when it is finished and I will mooch it back from you! (BM id: maiabittner , email: maia.bittner@gmail.com)

The Trip I Never Took

I’ve been a lot of places, but here is a trip I never took. This is a Frommer’s Travel Planner Journal. I bought it at Savers, to plan a trip to Washington DC for the summer of 2007. The trip was canceled. You can read about it and see my notes. I wrote all over the maps for this project, not as part of the trip planning, you can too, use a different ink pen/color than mine. The front pocket has some items, use them as you will. ADD something new. Place your business card in the back or alter a fake credit card, I did. Relabel the tabs, list the states and places you have been. Tell us about your USA or abroad travels. Tell about the trip you never took, or one you want to take. Add a postcard or take a postcard for any reason, any state. Cut up a map and paste. Have fun. Dont alter others work. The front maps and cover are the free zone. Please add a yarn, ribbon or fiber to the elastic strap that keeps it closed.
Pleas return finished book to 8izenuff when you are finished. Please only keep two weeks, dont mooch it if you are too busy. ISBN is TRIPNEVERTOOK Relist it so others can have a turn.

This journal was marked lost in the post in  2009 but appears to have resurfaced.

Favorite road trips

I started this journal for everyone to record their favorite places, moments, etc of roadtrips they’ve been on. Use as many pages as you like. Use pictures, art, stories, anything you like as long as it’s about or happened on a road trip. If anyone out there puts something rated X in it, please include that in the condition notes. Not that I would mind a little more excitement in my life. hehe

BM Travel Journal

A TRAVEL themed collaborative journal – mooch it, add 2 – 6 pages of journaling and send it on its way again. Let your imagination roam – space travel and time-travel are NOT excluded! Draw pictures, collage images, add paint and fibres – enjoy! Last person to work in the book needs to email me and I will mooch it back again. Book is hand-bound by me, with a blue-grey-silver colour theme.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die

After spending three years traveling the USA in a RV, I came to believe that every town, no matter how small, has some unusual claim to fame. It could be a person, a geographic feature, a building, an event, whatever it is that makes your town famous. The idea behind this journal is for you to tell us about the unusual fame your town claims, and design one or more pages and tell us about it. Use photographs, drawings, ATCs, stamp art, portions of travel brochures, written text, and so forth. Anything goes!

At the end of it’s journey, This Altered Book will be returned to it’s owner, [Kenenth G Samson] who may be reached through his account at BookMooch. [BookMooch ID: samsonkg]

Rules: none, really – as far as journals go. I want you to be as creative as you’d like, adding anything, altering the existing blank pages in the book with your own creative art. Do not alter the pages that have travel tips, however!

–Kenneth

This journal was returned to its creator when he began travelling himself. We have listed a new journal 1000 places to see before you die Part Two, which is moochable.

Around the World in 1,000 Pictures

This is an Altered Book from The BookMooch Journal Project. The book is a 1956 printing originally titled AROUND THE U.S.A. IN 1,000 PICTURES, loaded with, yes, 1,000 vintage photos! It was a book that was just begging to be given a new life as an altered book, with dreams of traveling all over the WORLD, meeting BookMoochers and collecting snapshots, ATCs, AECOs, multimedia art, paintings and drawings, doodles and scribbles, postage stamps, rubber stamps, found objects and anything else that creative souls around the world feel inspired to add to it before sending it along to another BookMoocher to play with. At the end of it’s long journey, This Altered Book will be returned to it’s owner, [Kenenth G Samson] who may be reached through his account at BookMooch. [BookMooch ID: samsonkg]

Rules: none, really – as far as journals go. I want you to be as creative as you’d like, adding anything, altering the existing pages in the book, incorporating existing pictures originally published in the book or covering them entirely with your own art. I especially love ATCs and drawings and multimedia and found objects, but look forward to seeing all the cool, creative things you will do with this journal before passing it on.

There IS one unbreakable rule, though….. after you are done adding your art, please put the journal back into this same page I’ve created for it here at BookMooch so someone else can mooch it and add to it, and when it is full, please contact me to arrange return of this treasure to me.
