March – the droghte of March

March is the third of a set of journals I am creating to celebrate the months of the year. These will be released month by month.
They are for anything to do with the month: why you like or dislike it, what it means to you, poems, books, artwork, music, songs, photographs, stories:- whatever you are inspired to do.

Put your entry wherever seems appropriate.

Rules:

Don’t alter anyone else’s work.

Keep for no more than two weeks.

Relist promptly.

Be willing to send anywhere it is requested.

When the journal is complete please reserve it for me and I will mooch it back. If pages start to come loose let me know please, and I can mooch it back and remake the book and repair as necessary.

Sadly the fourth journaller to request this journal seems to have kept it and is now inactive and not responding to emails. I have now recreated it in March 2011.

My favourite children’s TV programme.

This is a journal for your favourite children’s TV programmes – a place for a nostalgic trip back into your own history, or a celebration of shared experiences watching with your own children or grandchildren perhaps.

Put your entry wherever you like.
Please add your name, BM id and country, and date to your entry.
Please do not keep the journal too long – re-list within two weeks of receipt, and be prepared to send it promptly wherever it is requested. I have made the journal light and fairly small to ease postage costs, but if more pages are needed, or repairs I am able to rebind and alter or add as necessary. At such times I will upload the images to the journal site.

If you leave Bookmooch please send this onwards or back to me first.
If the journal arrives when you have no time to make an entry, please just re-list and email me and I will send it to you later point-free by arrangement.
When the journal returns to the UK I may mooch back to upload images.
When full I may be prepared to scan and print copies for any Bookmoocher who would like a copy to mooch and keep.

Sugar and spice and all things nice.

A journal for all those cute, fluffy and furry things which you like. This is a companion volume to ‘Slugs and snails and puppy dog tails’ that I created for my son who likes reptilian and invertebrates as pets. This one is for my granddaughter, who doesn’t!

Put your entry wherever you like.
Please add your name, BM id and country, and date to your entry.

Punch and Jokey

Mark came across this diary that had belonged to one of his brothers. There are few entries and they are not of any private matters, he had used it more as an engagement diary; but it contains some nice Punch magazine cartoons, so we decided to turn it into a journal for visual humour. Please leave the original Punch cartoons as they are.

Our entry is a photo from the BBC web-site that had been sent in over the snowy period early in this year of 2010. As I’m not really an artist and certainly not a cartoonist I decided to put it in as our entry, but I hope some of the Bookmooch budding artists will try their hand at cartooning!

Use as many pages as you like.

Please put your entry wherever you like.

Make sure you re-list promptly and pass on within two weeks. If you can’t make an entry within this time pass it on and request it again later.

If you take a particular shine to the cartoons please do not keep the journal.
Email me and I will send it to you when it is completed and I have seen it. If there are particular cartoons you would like to keep let me know. Again I can scan them and send them to you when it is returned completed, or in its travels.

365 Reasons

Flora’s Feast.

This calendar book is filled with beautiful illustrations by Walter Crane. Each month has a picture that you can use for inspiration to create your own piece of art. Use any medium that you’d like – just make sure not to alter the work of others. Also, I’d like for Crane’s pictures to remain as they are. I love the pictures!! Use page opposite your inspiration for your work of art. Feel free to also decorate the end pages.

When full, please return to Jenny Stafford, jfit.

1,000 Places to See Before You Die – Part Two

In 2006 Kenneth G Samson created a journal called BMJournal: 1,000 Places to See Before You Die BM1174772178913459737, of which he said: “After spending three years traveling the USA in a RV, I came to believe that every town, no matter how small, has some unusual claim to fame. It could be a person, a geographic feature, a building, an event, whatever it is that makes your town famous. The idea behind this journal is for you to tell us about the unusual fame your town claims, and design one or more pages and tell us about it. Use photographs, drawings, ATCs, stamp art, portions of travel brochures, written text, and so forth. Anything goes!”
Since he had it returned to him when he left to resume his travels, and 25 people had it wishlisted I decided to create a “Part Two” for those who would like to mooch and add to it.
I have used maps as pages, so alternate pages are covered in maps and plain. You are welcome to alter the map pages or simply use them to write on. When you make an entry please add your name, BMid and date, and initial all pages you use. Don’t alter pages that someone has already initialled! I am only putting 36 pages, when these are complete I will mooch it back and add more pages. Keep no longer than two weeks but if you can’t make your entry within a month tops please relist it and let me know. I’ll arrange to send it to you points free at a later date by arrangement. If you leave Bookmooch please return this journal to me. Enjoy!

Check It Out!!

Ever get excited about something that you just want to share? A great book, some new shoes or a new tv show? Something that makes you want to say to your friends, “Check It Out”? Tell us fellow moochers something that you find exciting or that you just want to share!! Use any medium you’d like, just don’t alter the work of others.

When full, please return to Jenny Stafford, jfit.

Quaint creatures of myths and customs.

This journal is a place for you to record all those curious and mysterious creatures that hover on the periphery of your vision and appear in folk traditions.
Please put your entry wherever seems appropriate.
Do not hang onto this journal – re-list it within two weeks of receipt and when requested send it promptly wherever it is asked for.
Journals get stranded in some areas where no-one will send them abroad, be prepared to do so even if you normally have an ‘Only to my own country’ rule.
If circumstances prevent you completing an entry within a month please re-list it and contact me, and I will arrange to send it to you again at a later date point-free by arrangement.
If the journal gets damaged or pages come loose, or extra pages are needed because it is full, please contact me and I will mooch it back and rebind it with extra pages if necessary, and effect the necessary repairs.
When full email me and I will mooch it back.
At this time I will upload scans of the pages to the journal’s Bookmooch page, so everyone who participated can see them.
Depending on demand it will then either be enlarged with new pages, or regarded as complete.
Most of my journals can be available for mooching when completed.

Lost Histories.

Lost Histories – Atlantis, Solomon’s Temple, Camelot, El Dorado, the Ark of the Covenant, Aristotle’s lost Dialogues, the Library of Alexandria, the Grail, Shakespeare’s lost plays, the Trail of tears, any number of lost treasures, the lost army of Cambyses, the long March, Boudicca’s grave, the tomb of Genghis Khan, the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Amelia Earhart’s last flight, the Persian invasion fleets, the White Ship, and the Franklin expedition, the lost ghettos of Warsaw….
Does lost or forgotten history fascinate you? Have you such a family history?
This is the place to recount it, to share the fragments of memories that without such retelling become truly lost and forgotten.
