Random 47

Decide ahead of time on some unit of 47 that you will use for measurement, such as 47 steps, 47 minutes, 47 pages, 47 stop signs, 47 swallows of juice, 47 swallows flying under the bridge, etc., then choose a random time to begin and take your 47 actions or count your 47 items, and then make some art or write some stream of consciousness on whatever the world offers you right there, right then. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, and return it to NovelCat after 47 people have made entries.

Inside Out, Upside Down and Backwards

This book was handmade in Indonesia; the pages are perhaps made of banana (only one side is smooth), and the cover is made of large leaves, like lotus, maybe. It’s a little fragile, but so is life. Every Single Page

This is an art journal, where each person will add one small item to each page that is almost the same but not quite–perhaps a small aligator that is looking left or looking right or in a different spot on the page; perhaps a red left spiral that stays red but spirals right, then is a blue right spiral, and so on. Choose something small that you can repeat and still vary 25 times. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, and return to NovelCat when full. (If it’s pretty full, but you still think maybe somebody could squeak in one more design or word, but the next person to mooch it thinks there’s not enough space, I’ll return a point to the final person who didn’t get to do any art.)

My Favorite Muppet, Vol. 2

Ah, Muppets. They’re soft and furry and some of them have snouts. They make you laugh. Some of us even grew up with them. First on Sesame Street, the on The Muppet Show on televsion, until finally on the big screen. Who is your favorite Muppet?

This is an altered book that started life as a Golden Book called See You Later, Mashed Potater. Use the words and images in the book or cover them up. Be creative. Think outside the box. Draw, paint, collage, stamp, color. Text is okay, too. Because there are only 14 pages in this book, I’d like to ask that each journaler add not more than 2 spreads.

Please only keep the journal for 2 weeks before you pass it to another BookMoocher. Please do not destroy, change, or remove someone else’s work.

After you are done adding your art, please put the journal back into this same page I’ve created for it here at BookMooch so someone else can mooch it and add to it. When it is full, please contact me via email to arrange for the journey home.
