Love of 13. Today is Friday the 13th and this is the 13th journal I’ve added to BookMooch. Art and writing inspired by the number 13–knock yourselves out! Please turn it around in two weeks and return it to NovelCat at the end. Yay!

Cats

This is a beautiful “blank” book with quotations about cats in green and drawings of cats in sepia on every page, which I’d like to preserve. I invite you to write about your favorite cat, cat encounter, cat experience, cat myth, cat anecdote, etc. Please turn it around within the usual two weeks, and return it to NovelCat when full. Enjoy!

Women Reincarnated

This is a beautiful “blank” book with quotations by women in brown and drawings of leaves in green on every page, which I’d like to preserve. I invite you to write a journal entry as your favorite historical woman , writing either in her own day or reincarnated in our time. (Men are welcome to write on this topic, too.) Please turn it around within the usual two weeks, and return it to NovelCat when full. Enjoy!

Woman Wise & Wild

This is a beautiful “blank” book with quotations by women in green and drawings of grasses in sepia on every page, which I’d like to preserve. I invite you to write about two women you admire, love, or are amazed by: one a wise woman, one a wild woman. (Men can certainly write on these topics, too.) Please turn it around within the usual two weeks, and return it to NovelCat when full. Enjoy!

Wild Goose Chase

Write about the most wonderful wild goose chase you ever experienced: some plan that went awry and led to a wonderful discovery; a wrong turn that caused you to see something incredibly beautiful; the wrong train where you met someone terribly interesting; etc. Some appropriate cover art would be appreciated. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, and return it home to NovelCat when the adventures are over.

What’s Your Passion?

What’s your passion? Is it painting, driving fast, talking all night, baking bread, raising children, golf, space, hanging upside down reciting poetry, or what? Tell it, draw it, sing it–share your passion with us. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks and return it to NovelCat when it’s full, so full!

Tangent

This is an art journal in which each person will choose one element of the art on the previous 2-page spread, echo it somewhere on the next spread and extrapolate from there. For this to work, please work in order (p.1, p.2, p.3, etc.), and choose an element that will be recognizable, like a blue triangle or a girl’s face, so that anyone looking at it from the beginning will be able to figure out what each artist chose to build on from the previous piece. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks and return it to NovelCat when done.

Subtle Sensual Suggestion

With words or art hint, imply, or suggest something sensual. Use lush language or rich color/texture to let us feel all the senses. Example: write or show food so luscious you want to roll in it. Nudity is OK, but not overt sex. This is more about the wind over your skin than flesh on flesh, more R than X. The book itself is just a diary with lines, but we know it has hidden potential; I’d be grateful if someone would make some suitable cover art, too. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, then slink it back to NovelCat when full.

Random 47

Decide ahead of time on some unit of 47 that you will use for measurement, such as 47 steps, 47 minutes, 47 pages, 47 stop signs, 47 swallows of juice, 47 swallows flying under the bridge, etc., then choose a random time to begin and take your 47 actions or count your 47 items, and then make some art or write some stream of consciousness on whatever the world offers you right there, right then. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, and return it to NovelCat after 47 people have made entries.

Inside Out, Upside Down and Backwards

View your life through Alice’s Looking Glass, or through the wrong end of a telescope, or through a kaleidescope or a fun house mirror, then write about it or make some crazy/wild art. The book itself is just a diary with lines; I’d be grateful if someone would make some suitable cover art, too. Please turn it around in the usual two weeks, then return it to NovelCat when it’s dizzy.
