DYKELICIOUS (Birthday Books Vol 2 of 41)

Wicked, wonderful, witty or wholly/holy wholesome. A delicious romp into dykedom. Please art your way– playful or serious– through this journal. Lesbians and bi-grrls are hearty encouraged to participate but you need not be one to play. Queer family and allies welcome. You must however be queer at heart, gay positive art only.

When the pages of this journal are filled, please return it to bookmooch user: zenfish. Thank you.

RE: Birthday Books vol 1-41. I was very excited to read about the bookmooch journal project as I usually celebrate my birthday with art/performance art madness related to the number in question. In August I will be a delightful 41 years wild. I have purchased 41 blank journals and am giving each individual themes. When all the wayward art has winged its way home to me, I look forward to a local celebration to share and enjoy these books with friends.

Confessions of a Broken Heart

Do you still think of a lost love? Still secretly keep in contact or wish you could? Do you still dream of them, let them play with your head, repeatedly get your heart broken by the same person? If you have any “confessions” related to a Lost Love that you want to put somewhere but don’t necessarily want to be lectured by your friends about, here’s the place. Hopefully I’m not the only one who could use this journal??

Cool for Cats

All about cats. This journal is for Bookmoochers to share pictures and artwork of their pet cats, but non-owners are certainly welcome to mooch and add their cat-related artwork.

Fairylish

This BMJournal happens to have the theme of fairies and manga, but every entry is appreciated and does not have to follow this theme. However, there are a few rules:

1) do NOT destroy someone else’s alteration

2) please keep to time limit as much as possible

and 3) HAVE FUN while making the alterations!!!!!

Amuse or Advise: Whattaya Know?

My niece is planning for college, but isn’t sure where she’ll enroll yet, or for what. I’m hoping y’all will share some of your hard-won wisdom (or whimsy) with her, a young woman leaving home for the first time- she can be a little sarcastic, but she’s a good kid, and she reads. 🙂

Maybe recommend a book, or a recipe? Or put down something encouraging, or practical information that might help her in a pinch, or a funny story or a joke? A picture or poem, or a pitch for your major (I tell her to become a librarian); the best advice you ever got, what gets you through a tough day. Anything that helped you through college, or through life . . . I rarely see her, so please help me send her off with something really cool.

Say WOOF! Poems By and About Our Pets

One of my favorite books is Unleashed: Poems by Writer’s Dogs, edited by Amy Hempel and Jim Shepard. I see there are a couple of pet-oriented journals circulating, and I wonder if my own pets, and maybe yours, would like to get in on the act. I know my current dog at least likes the TASTE of books. I’ve started the journal with a poem my husband wrote for our dog, “A Poem for Our Dog of Little Brain.”

Land of the Living: Poetry of Peace (Birthday Books Vol 13 of 41)

The title of this blank book comes from the poem CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR by Edna St. Vincent Millay (see excerpt below). This book should be filled with your favorite anti-war poem, quotation, slogan, folk song. Illustrate them if you wish. Feel free to include original poetry, prose and personal experiences of pro-peace activism. Use as much space as you like, it’s a big book.

“I shall die, but that is all that I shall do for Death;

I am not on his pay-roll.

I will not tell him the whereabout of my friends

nor of my enemies either.

Though he promise me much,

I will not map him the route to any man’s door.

Am I a spy in the land of the living,

that I should deliver men to Death?”

When the pages of this journal are filled, please return it to bookmooch user: zenfish. Thank you.
