(A)Typical Situation

“Nothing about us without us!” cries the famous populist mantra. This slogan has, in many ways, become the motto of the disability community for its assertion that no policy should be adopted or enacted by any individual without direct participation from the affected group.

As a disabled individual, I have a deep-seeded interest in accounts dealing with others who are marginalized, oppressed, or discriminated against by society. However, in my search for texts, I have found a dismally higher number of volumes about disabled individuals, rather than by disabled individuals. Thus the creation of this text.

Anyone is free and welcome to mooch this book, but I ask that no secondhand accounts be written here. This is a text created by those who are disabled. There are plenty of others available about the effect of disabilities on families, friends, and loved ones.

Regardless of your disability, feel free to contribute to this book in any way that you see fit. All I ask is that you tell us your story with honesty and candor and allow others to share in your personal journey in whatever way you feel most comfortable.

Please do /not/ in any way alter or deface the stories of others. Turnaround for this book should be at two weeks, tops. If you are unable to produce your own work in that time frame, please either refrain from mooching or release the book back out until you are able to make your contribution.

When the book is full, contact namid at BookMooch and I will mooch it back to you.

Homeschool Journies

This journal was started by the Creative Journaling Club of the Potomac Home Learning Circle in Western Maryland, and is hoping to make its way to other homeschoolers around the country and/or world to share their homeschooling experiences. Contact BookMooch ID: PetiteWeb for more info.

This journal appears never to have left home.

Journaler’s Choice Volume One

I’ve gathered my all-time favorite bookmooch journal topics into one volume. I’ll provide you with a list to choose from – you choose your favorite topic and write, write, write!

Take as many pages as you’d like, because after twenty-five moochers have written, I’m going to close the volume and mooch it back.

Please re-list it as soon as you receive it – then you’ll be pushed to finish your entry quickly. Use poems, prose, photos, drawings and any other media that you like. Be sure you put your bookmooch ID on your work in order to take the proper credit for it. Remember not to change or deface anyone else’s entry.

Have fun!

Fatherhood

This journal is focused on the theme of fatherhood. Contribute your memories, thoughts, suggestions, advice, stories, anecdotes, or random musings about your father, about being a father, or the experience of fatherliness generally.

Please use no more than two pages, since this is a short journal (I’m hoping to have it back in time to begin my own fatherhood journey). Please do not keep it longer than a couple weeks, then send it on. When the journal is full please contact me and I will mooch is back from you.

Thank you!

Live Cheap

I love freebies and anything else that makes life easier and cheaper. With the economy the way it is, we all need tips and tricks to make things last. Please add yours to my journal, and let the good karma go around!

When the journal is full, or if you have any questions, please email me at colorprodigy (at) yahoo.com.

Your Favorite Internet Site

I’m an internet fanatic! Probably a little too much 🙂 I have my favorite sites, as does everyone, and I thought a journal to combine them all and share them would be cool. When the journal is done, or if there are any questions, please contact me colorprodigy (at) yahoo.com.

Thanks!

The Art of Chinese Paper Folding

Card-reinforced paperback notebook with passepartout spine and paper cover.
Amongst our collection of books we found this quarter completed notebook of Chinese paper-folding designs.
It came to us part-completed, by one of our ancestors. We do not know who the original author was. It seems ideal for BMers to add their own or designs known to them. Eventually we hope to re-release it as a completed book of 34 double pages plus 5 page introduction and an index and list of contributors. The photo example is a design by Gill’s father made for a Christmas display at his library. Although the title refers to Chinese Paper Folding,  I would be happy for it to include original designs or designs of other ethnic origins.

All Things Black and White

This journal is about “All Things Black & White.” When I was younger I just fell in love with black and white photography. I think there is nothing better than the two colors; black and white. Even black and white decor is so sleek and chic. So I want this journal to be in all black and white. Yes I can see the journal itself is not, but I just loved these cute little things(and I bought 11 of them.)

Let your imagination run wild! It can include pictures, writing, paintings, drawings, scribbles or anything that you see fit. Do not feel limited to one page for your entry, but please leave room for others as well.

Please do not change or alter anyone else’s entries and keep within the two week mooch window time limit. After you are finished with your entry, please put the journal back into this same page I’ve created for it here at BookMooch so someone else can mooch it.

When the journal is full and complete, please contact me (BM username: havi13) and I will mooch it back.

This journal was marked by a requestor as lost in the post in August 2009, and the creator does not respond to emails. Malorie Smiths’s The Black and White Book on the same theme is available for mooching.

A Blast from the Past!

A Blast from the Past! is an opportunity to take a trip down memory lane without having to leave the comfort of your Lazy Boy! Take a few minutes to go back in time. Think of something or someone that was once so familiar, yet over the years has become outdated or simply pushed aside for something new but not necessarily improved. It could be a family member, cartoon character, movie, TV show, gadget, car, household item, event, activity….

Jot down your Blast and the memories it holds for you. Be creative. Pictures and sketches are welcomed! Of course, one person’s past may be someone else’s antiquity, so it will be interesting to compare what different generations consider a Blast.

The rules are simple. Keep it G/PG rated. Don’t change someone else’s entry. Include your BM ID, country, and date with your entry. Keep it only 2 weeks then put back in your inventory for mooching. When it’s full, contact mmb(NJ) and I’ll mooch it back from you.

This journal was kept by a moocher in March 2009, who has been away from Bookmooch for almost two years and her email address has bounced.
