Bizarre & Beautiful Eyes

This is a BMJournal. Further info on this project can be viewed on my bio page (username rddjna). Basically, it is a book that is passed around to bookmoochers and each person adds their own alterations to the book within a 2 to 3 week time period and then posts it in their inventory to be mooched by someone else. This process continues until the book is full. When the book becomes full, the last moocher contacts the originated (username: rddjna in this case) and mails it home for the originator to keep. Anyone can do it, so start your own. This BMJournal happens to have no particular theme, so every entry is appreciated and does not have to follow a certain theme. However, there are a few rules:

1) do NOT destroy someone else’s alteration
2) please keep to time limit as much as possible
and 3) HAVE FUN while making the alterations!!!!!
Thanks!

A Little Book of Owls

This is for all the owl-lovers out there.

Everything owl-related goes: prose, poetry, fiction, natural science, quotes, drawings, photos, ACEOs, collages, legends and sayings…

Only two things: add your name, country and date of contribution to your entry and don’t write on someone else’s page.

When the booklet is full, contact me (user ID seleya) and I’ll mooch it back from you. 🙂

Book of Friends

I picked up this address book titled “Book of Friends” at a local used book sale. I intend for it to be an altered book on the theme of friendship. Please add pictures and recollections about your friendships both humourous and heartwarming: photos from that spontaneous road trip; descriptions of those special people in your life that no one knows quite the way that you do; maybe copies of penpal correspondence – anything celebrating friends and friendship is welcome.

I rate some of my own recollections as suitable for “mature audiences”, so be warned, and feel free to add your own uncensored stories, pics, etc.

The Book of the Birch – an homage to J.R.R. Tolkien

What do Professor Tolkien’s works (fiction or non-fiction) mean to you? Has he been an influence in your life or your writing? Did you find yourself on the path of a linguist, a medievalist, a writer, musician or illustrator because of a beloved book of his that just wouldn’t let you be? Have you ever wished you could just write to him to say ‘Thank you!’ or to explain why his writings mean that much to you?

The Book of the Birch will be a collection in homage to Tolkien’s opus and life . Everything is welcome : remembrances, commentaries, quotes, poems, sketches and drawings, photos, collages, entries in Sindarin, Quenya and Anglo-Saxon (or any other language for that matter).

Only one caveat: no entries specifically on the movies, this is for the books .

Feel free to write or draw as much (or as little) as you feel like, put your name, your country and the date of your contribution either at the beginning or the end and of it, and please, don’t write on the same page of someone else.

When the book is finished, get in touch with me (user ID: seleya) and I’ll mooch the book back (FYI, I live in Italy).

For those who prefer to avoid animal by-products: the cover of the book is leather.

Thank you!

Just as it says, a little book of haiku and related poetry (senryu, scifaiku, tanka and other Japanese forms welcome).

Only original works, please. Of course all rights to the poems will remain with the original author. All languages welcome, but please, if your poem isn’t in English, Italian or French provide a translation. One poem per page, please, leave the back of the sheet blank (write only on the right-hand page). Add your name, country and date of composition of the poem at the bottom of the page.

When the booklet is full, contact me, User ID: seleya, and I’ll mooch it back.

Walk Like an Egyptian

Ancient Egypt was a topic everyone looked forward to studying when I was in elementary school. We got to build a pyramid, mummify chickens, and learn about all these crazy animal-headed gods and goddesses.

The initial Egypt craze never wore off. I am still fascinated by that country’s history. Whether it’s a lecture about their gods and goddesses or a study of the dynasties of the Middle Kingdom, and I always eager to learn more. So this is a journal for all the others out there who never “got over” Ancient Egypt. Write in it, draw it, share your theories about how the pyramids were built or what you would want to bring with you if you were to be mummified and placed in a pyramid!

Mother Moon/Sister Sun (Birthday Books Vol 24 of 41)

Art, myths, devotions and poetry on Moon and Sun.

RE: Birthday Books vol 1-41. I was very excited to read about the bookmooch journal project as I usually celebrate my birthday with art/performance art madness related to the number in question. In August I will be a delightful 41 years wild. I have purchased 41 blank journals and am giving each individual themes. When all the wayward art has winged its way home to me, I look forward to a local celebration to share and enjoy these books with friends.

The Little Book of Imaginary People

Here’s a journal just begging to be taken out for coffee. Find yourself a comfortable seat of vantage, and watch the world pass in front of your eyes- more specifically, find one face that intrigues you or catches your attention. Imagine what their life might be like; what’s their name? Are they married? Are they a secret serial killer? A secret dentist, perhaps? Sketch out a character for your imaginary person– feel free to even draw a picture of them, or illustrate in any way that takes your fancy- and pass it along.

Just remember to keep this moving and to relist here once you’re ready to send it along.
