Walk Like an Egyptian

Ancient Egypt was a topic everyone looked forward to studying when I was in elementary school. We got to build a pyramid, mummify chickens, and learn about all these crazy animal-headed gods and goddesses.

The initial Egypt craze never wore off. I am still fascinated by that country’s history. Whether it’s a lecture about their gods and goddesses or a study of the dynasties of the Middle Kingdom, and I always eager to learn more. So this is a journal for all the others out there who never “got over” Ancient Egypt. Write in it, draw it, share your theories about how the pyramids were built or what you would want to bring with you if you were to be mummified and placed in a pyramid!

Mother Moon/Sister Sun (Birthday Books Vol 24 of 41)

Art, myths, devotions and poetry on Moon and Sun.

RE: Birthday Books vol 1-41. I was very excited to read about the bookmooch journal project as I usually celebrate my birthday with art/performance art madness related to the number in question. In August I will be a delightful 41 years wild. I have purchased 41 blank journals and am giving each individual themes. When all the wayward art has winged its way home to me, I look forward to a local celebration to share and enjoy these books with friends.

Alice in Wonderland

This is a BMJournal. Please add pictures and art relating to Alice In Wonderland or Through the Lookinglass by Lewis Carroll. Basically, it is a book that is passed around to bookmoochers and each person adds their own alterations to the book within a 2 week time period and then posts it in their inventory to be mooched by someone else. This process continues until the book is full. When the book becomes full, the last moocher contacts the originated (username: julzddm in this case) and mails it home for the originator to keep.

Thanks for your participation. Feel free to contact me, user name julzddm.

The Little Book of Imaginary People

Here’s a journal just begging to be taken out for coffee. Find yourself a comfortable seat of vantage, and watch the world pass in front of your eyes- more specifically, find one face that intrigues you or catches your attention. Imagine what their life might be like; what’s their name? Are they married? Are they a secret serial killer? A secret dentist, perhaps? Sketch out a character for your imaginary person– feel free to even draw a picture of them, or illustrate in any way that takes your fancy- and pass it along.

Just remember to keep this moving and to relist here once you’re ready to send it along.

The Little Book of Phone-Side Doodles

It seems our most creative minutes (or hours, depending on your phone
habit) are spent talking on the phone. The scribbles and doodles idly
made in an attempt to keep our eyes busy while our minds and mouths
race can be amazingly detailed, surreal, imaginative and weird. So
keep this journal by the phone and scribble as the muse finds you.
Once you’ve filled a page (or two) send it along to the next
talkaholic. 😉

Fun-N-Games

This journal is full of blank pages, which will be filled by fellow BookMoochers.

The topic of this journal is “Fun-N-Games”. As children, many of us had our favorite toy or game that kept us occupied. In this journal, please contribute photos, pictures, artwork, stories, and anything else that relates your favorite toys or games from your childhood. It can be something you had, or something you really wanted but never obtained.

If you can’t think of anything from your childhood, tell me about something that your children or grandchildren love. My very first nephew is due to be born November 2007, so you could give me some ideas on things he might enjoy has he grows up.

When you receive this journal, please add your contribution on one or more pages, then, re-list it on BookMooch so that others can mooch it and pass it on. Please list it in this same location.

When the book is full, please return it to me and I will smooch you a point to cover shipping.

The Little Book Of BookMooch Tarot

This is the second of my ‘little book’ journals. This is what it sounds like- BookMoocher’s versions of the Major Arcana.

Select a card that has not yet been done (or if all of them have been done and the book is not yet full, then select whichever one takes your fancy) and illustrate your version of it. You can do this directly on the book, or do it on something else and paste it in, you ca even do it on your computer, and print it out- skies the limit. Then include your personal interpretation of the card you illustrated, explaining what it would indicate in a spread.

Add your BookMooch ID to your entry, and send it along its way, and when it’s full send back to Snofferol.

Most importantly- HAVE FUN!

Mellow Yellow

This is one of several “neon” journals that I picked up on sale at the local drug store. They are small in size – the pages are about the size of an index card and are unlined and brightly colored in the theme of each of these “color” journals. The theme of this journal is “yellow.” It is a celebration of all things literally and figuratively “yellow” – whether it’s art work featuring the color yellow, or examples of yellow-bellied yellow journalism, yellowed with age…all things “yellow” are welcome.

Although there were a few free pages when I had this journal, it was returned to its creator, as it was overfilled for the spine to take the strain. The creator has since been inactive and has not responded to emails, so it must be regarded as completed and returned to its creator.
