More Important Things To Do

This is a collaborative art book to be created over the pages of one of my old calendars/planners. I’ve started by adding some things to each page. I also made some chunks of pages into big thick pages and some are left as is. Feel free to cut/add/subtract/alter to your heart’s content. Anything goes, just be respectful of each other.

The Tiny Book of Triangles

Here’s a different angle on a book; it’s a triangle. This tiny book is in the shape of a triangle. This is an altered book filled with partial images and words. Feel free to incorporate them into your art or cover them up. Be creative. Think outside the box. Use a few pages or a lot. Draw, paint, collage, stamp, color. Text is okay, too. There is no theme, but please include a triangle in your art.

Please only keep the journal for 2 weeks before you pass it to another BookMoocher. Please do not destroy, change, or remove someone else’s work.

After you are done adding your art, please put the journal back into this same page I’ve created for it here at BookMooch so someone else can mooch it and add to it. When it is full, please contact me via email to arrange for the journey home.

Hidden Mickeys

Being a Disney fan I thought it would be fun to start a journal all about Hidden Mickeys. If you don’t know what that is check out this site for an explanation. This journal is an altered children’s book and what I would like everybody to do is to add your own art and include a hidden Mickey(s) in your art work. You may use cover the pages in the book completely or work around the pictures and words, anything goes. The only thing I do ask is no mature content be added to this journal as I would like to share it with my whole family. Have fun!

New York State of Mind

This is an altered book originally titled: The Club at the World Trade Center 1989. The theme of the altered book is pictures, words, and art celebrating New York City.

Book of Friends

I picked up this address book titled “Book of Friends” at a local used book sale. I intend for it to be an altered book on the theme of friendship. Please add pictures and recollections about your friendships both humourous and heartwarming: photos from that spontaneous road trip; descriptions of those special people in your life that no one knows quite the way that you do; maybe copies of penpal correspondence – anything celebrating friends and friendship is welcome.

I rate some of my own recollections as suitable for “mature audiences”, so be warned, and feel free to add your own uncensored stories, pics, etc.

All I Really Need to Know

This is an Altered Book from The BookMooch Journal Project. The book is a 1989 hardback copy of All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten by Robert Fulghum. This book wants to travel the world and collect life lessons and advice from today’s readers and artists. Feel free to be creative. Use photos, ATCs, ACEOs, multimedia art, paintings, drawings, doodles, stickers, stamps, found objects, and anything else that comes to mind. Text is okay, too! Share your uncommon thoughts on common things, mantras, words to live by, and anything else you think is worthy of sharing. Works can be signed or unsigned.

At the end of this book’s journey, it should be returned to Alicia Edwards who may be reached through her account at BookMooch. (BookMooch ID: aliciaed)

I look forward to seeing the words of wisdom and images you create.

There IS one rule. After you are done adding your art, please put the journal back into this same page I’ve created for it here at BookMooch so someone else can mooch it and add to it, and when it is full, please contact me to arrange return of this treasure to me.

A night without armor Poems by Jewel

This is a poem book by Jewel that I thought would make a great altered book since alot of her poems are short and there is alot of free space. Feel free to work with the text or pictures or cover the pages completely. No topic to this journal, just be creative.

When full please return to me, BookMooch ID: mspeegle

I’m laughing as fast as I can… (Birthday Books Vol 14 of 41)

This is an old “Far Side” day calendar. Cover the calendar pages (and any other space that is not sporting a cartoon) with your favorite jokes, cartoons, comics, etc. Scribble in the margins. Graffiti every blank space with your favorite goofs and guffaws. When the pages of this journal are filled, please return it to bookmooch user: zenfish. Thank you.

RE: Birthday Books vol 1-41. I was very excited to read about the bookmooch journal project as I usually celebrate my birthday with art/performance art madness related to the number in question. In August I will be a delightful 41 years wild. I have purchased 41 blank journals and am giving each individual themes. When all the wayward art has winged its way home to me, I look forward to a local celebration to share and enjoy these books with friends.

Dead Letters (Birthday Books Vol 17 of 41)

What you would have said if you could have… This is a reclaimed calendar. I have pasted backgrounds over the calendar months. Feel free to use these backgrounds or create your own on the blank pages. The “backgrounds” are simply a frame for the envelope you paste there. Inside the envelope is a letter written from you to someone dead. The person may be historical or personal. Julius Caesar or a beloved grandparent, your choice. When the pages of this journal are filled, please return it to bookmooch user: zenfish. Thank you.

Contact High

This is (well, it was until now) a Japanese children’s book, full of wonderfully expressive, minimalist drawings of a couple of pandas. I’m asking people to ignore the Japanese writing completely (or work with it, or around it – there’s not a lot of it, really) and to add their own thoughts, poems, stories, or drawings to the the pictures in the book. It’s as you like with this one.
