Adoption

This is a journal about adoption.
Whether you were an adopted child, or have adopted children, or you gave a child up for adoption please share with us your feelings or experiences of adoption.
I am creating this journal for my friend Winyan ohmanisa waste la ke who was adopted by a non-Native American couple and felt out of place without knowing why.

Considerable time and effort goes into the making of journals, and it is sad when they are stalled or lost. Please keep for no more than two weeks and relist promptly, sending on where requested. If you can’t send abroad please find an angel who is willing to relist under the BMid, and reserve it for an out-of-country journaller.
When it is full or if it needs repair I will mooch it back again. You can email photos or scans of pages to bookmoochjournals@gmail.com and I will upload them to the journal site for all to see.

Postcards of Snowy Weather

This is one of my postcard journals. It is made up of postcards with photos of snowy weather in different places. When you get the journal, pick one postcard that speaks to you and write on the back of it why you chose it. Tell us why you like the picture, what it reminds you of or how you it inspired you.

A few rules for journaling:
1) You can use more than one card, but don’t alter anyone else’s work.
2) I suggest you relist this journal on your inventory immediately after marking it received (since you’ll already be on Bookmooch anyway :)) – this will make it available as soon as possible for other moochers, and remind you to make an entry. Don’t worry about time pressure – you can always tell a moocher that it will take you a little longer to send out their book.
3) When the book is full, please contact me (Hannah; BMID: hanhel), and I will mooch it back from you. If you are having trouble getting the book back out to someone, feel free to contact me as well, I will try to find a solution.

Pattern Journal

As a musician I love pattern. My father had an artist’s eye and an absolute gift for selecting the right pattern for the right place. I like these folded articles children make as a game and decided to make a journal out of a large example. I have waited over a year for the correct-sized piece of card to come along. Take one square or one triangle or diamond shape and make your own pattern on it, don’t alter anyone else’s work and try to make the patterns sympathetic to adjacent areas. You can use the front and the back of the card! Sign and date and add BM id in the margins.
Please pass the journal on promptly, relisting within two weeks. Relist ONLY on Bookmooch.

Postcards of Things That Make You Go “Awww”

This is one of my postcard journals. It is made up of postcards with genuinely cute pictures – both photos and drawing. When you get the journal, pick one postcard that speaks to you and write on the back of it why you chose it. Tell us why you like the picture, what it reminds you of or how you it inspired you.

“A Bookmooch Book about South Africa”

This journal is intended as a present for the man I love. He is a South African emigrant and won’t stop talking about all the things he misses about South Africa.

Since I myself am not from South Africa, I would like for you to create a collection of South African things. Whether it’s about foodstuff, places, people, history, art – stories, memories, photos, drawings, recommendations, poems on anything South African are welcome.

You don’t have to be South African to write in this journal. You’ve traveled to South Africa? Have South African friends, relatives or colleagues? You just think you have something relevant to say about South Africa? Go ahead and participate in this project!

Since I myself am not a very artistic person, I have left the cover of the book quite blank – feel free to add anything creative to the front and back. On the inside, use as many pages as you want, just don’t alter anyone else’s entries. On top of the second-to-last page, I wrote “A few final words…”. Please do not write, draw or glue anything beyond that title, so that I may add some form of conclusion at the end of the book once I get it back.

When the book is full, please contact me (Name: Hannah; ID: hanhel) on Bookmooch and I will mooch it back from you.

Thanks for your cooperation, I would really love for this to become a great gift!!!!

Being Human

My daughter and I love to journal and be creative so we’re creating a set of journals on various subjects to celebrate shared art and creativity.

This journal is blank and ready to be filled with whatever your thoughts are on being human 🙂 The first few pages have some thoughts/art about life and humanity and you’re welcome to add any art, words, stories, poems, songs, doodles or photos you wish.

Use as many or as few pages as you’d like to share your ideas.

Please don’t alter anyone else’s work.

Please make your entry and then relist here within two weeks.

Have fun!

When this journal is complete please reserve it for me and I will mooch it back from you. If you are unable to complete the journal within time or have any issues with it please contact me here and I’ll mooch it back again.

brella

In two years this journal has only had two entries made in it. Its creator is inactive and when I returned some of her journals to her I received no acknowledgement that they were received. I am uncertain whether this is due to circumstances, moving house or some other reason. I decided to make a very long entry in it so that if it was returned it was not so empty.

As I still can get no email or snailmail reply from Bella I have decided to let this one circulate at present.

Now back in circulation.

Lavender’s Blue, Rosemary’s Green

This book is named after the lymric “Lavender’s Blue, Rosemary’s Green, When You Are King, I Shall Be Queen.” I’ve read that this comes from an old English Nursery Rhyme, although I was first introduced to it in M. M. Kaye’s “The Ordinary Princess” when I was young.
Fill this book with whatever you would like, as long as it somewhat relates to the saying. All mediums are welcome, including written entries. Fill a page spread with things that are blue or green (or lavendar – which I consider to be more purple-y), something related to Kings or Queens, or even M.M. Kaye’s book- you get the idea. Please do not alter other’s entries, and please relist and be ready to send the book to the next participant within two weeks of receiving it.
If your entry fills the book, please contact me (carlyexactly) and I will mooch it from you. If the book is damaged or need any repairs, please also contact me and I will mooch the book from you to repair. Thank you for your interest and participation!

Cookies

Big or small. Simple or complex. With or without chocolate. This is a journal to share your favorite cookie recipes with fellow moochers.

Furthermore you can comment an already shared recipe. (Do you know that recipe? Did you try one of the recipes? Was it good? Do tell!) You can also suggest a tip or your own version of a shared recipe. But do this by referring to the recipe’s name or page number, don’t alter or change the recipe itself.

Personally I have a love-hate relationship with cookies: I love to eat them, and I even love to bake them. That is, I love to bake the two kinds of cookies I know how to bake. And that leads to the hate part of my relationship: I hate that I don’t know more good recipes.

So please help me (and maybe others with the same problem) and share your tried and trusted cookie recipes.

• Share as many or as few recipes as you like.
• Don’t alter or change other recipes – though you can tell your own version or some tip of a recipe already shared by referring to it by name and/or page number.
• Repost to bookmooch.com within 2 weeks.
• When the journal is full, please contact me and I’ll mooch the journal from you.

Flowers of meadow and vale

I spent a year in Hereford with two maiden aunts in 1950, when I was recovering from a serious operation. These kind elderly ladies were both retired infant teachers, and our time was spent between reading and going for long walks in the surrounding meadows and countryside.
My memories are just of a warmth and pleasure that I had in my time with them. I came back with a reading age of 12 and a knowledge of wild flower names seldom drawn upon until we moved here to rural Ceredigion in late 1980.
Since then common flower names come to me unbidden when I encounter meadow flowers, and I am sure I have them to thank for that, and for my love of the countryside.
This journal is dedicated to the memory of two lovely ladies and their joy in wild meadow flowers.
Please add your own favourite meadow and other wild flowers. Keep for no longer than two weeks before re-listing, and do not delay seding when requested. A lot of time and effort goes into journals and it is sad when they are lost. Contact me with any queries.

A History Journal: Native Americans

When I started doing some family research, I found that two of my great, great grandmothers were Cherokee Indians, of which I’m very proud. There is such a sense of wonder and interest for me when I think about the role of Native Americans in our country’s past and present. I love Indian art, music and stories and enjoy exploring Indian culture as much as possible. This journal is to celebrate that culture! Use any medium you’d like, just don’t alter someone else’s entry.

Much work and love goes into creating new journals  It’s so sad when one goes missing or is kept by someone other than the creater. Please pass the journals along!!

When full, please return to: jfit, Jenny Stafford.
